HD Camera? Date: 2008-12-31 Rating: 2 out of 10
First things first, I did not buy this camera from amazon but instead bought it at Abc Warehouse in Michigan for Black Friday for $88. I do not get how anyone calls this an HD camera. The video quality is awful and very pixely, while the sound is pretty good. I do not understand how this company calls this camera HD and I am confused why anyone would sell this camera. I have posted "HD" videos on YouTube and am surprised how bad the picture quality is. Sometimes it doesn't even work with YouTube and I get an "unknown error has occured" message. I am very frustrated by the horrible softwear and confused by the fact it advertises downloading easily to youtube. I have tried many different settings to make it HD but to no avail and I have even tried the HDMI cable and hooked it up to my full HD TV. I am disappointed at this company for not having any customer support and since I live in Wisconsin I cannot return it. I do not recommend this product and wish I would have saved my money to get a real HD camera. If you want a knockaround camera for a mediocre price then I can see getting it. It is not an HD camera and if you have problems with it good luck finding a customer support.
BewertungenImpressive little camera for the price!Datum 2008-10-22 Rang: 8 von 10I got this little gem for $100 from my local Walmart. I'd tried a few other camera previously and this one so far seems to have the best price/performance ratio.
Good:
Size - This thing is TINY! I brought it on vacation with me and had it in my pocket pretty much the entire time. It's very easy to walk around with it laced around your arm as well.
Battery Life - I'd say it could last a good 1.5-2 hours on a full charge, which is much more than some other cameras I've tried.
Video - Quite nice in daylight. Watching at full res show's it's not quite capturing all the detail, but it looks very nice for casual recording and burning as a DVD video. Low light performance isn't too bad either, though there's a fair amount of grain and lines from the CMOS.
Photos - Outdoors in fair light, the photos look quite good. I'm quite impressed with it's ability to take photos, but only outdoors. Step inside and it's a whole other story (typical CMOS smearing)
Ability to edit - I forget the exact standard used right off, but with the Kazaa Lite codec pack installed, videos import directly into Adobe Premiere without any problem. You still need quite a machine to edit them, but it's much easier to do so than an Aiptek I tried.
Bad:
Audio - While not terribly bad, it is only mono, and I beleive 22kHz if I recall correctly. Though worse than the quality is the microphone placement. It's right on the top, so talking will drown out any other audio. Oh, and don't breath either, it'll pick that up too!
Lack of flash - Don't let the print fool you; there is no flash. It has an extremely bright LED on the front, but it's really no good except for playing around in total darkness. And it does almost nothing for the photos in low light.
I could probably go on and on giving pros and cons, but I'll just say if you're looking for a small video camera, seriously consider this one. Awesome HD Video/Sound Quality for the price!Datum 2008-10-08 Rang: 10 von 10Yeah yeah... There's alot of High Definition camcorders out there. However, this one grabbed my attention because of it's wonderful video/sound quality for the price. It's also very lightweight and small enough for you to take with you everywhere you go. It's almost similar to the Aiptek HD camcorders, but the sound quality of the Jazz HDV178 is a little better.
Also, the fact that you can record your videos on SD or SDHC cards is definitely a plus. No extra tapes or DVDs to purchase. Plus you can just put your SD card on a memory card reader and copy the videos directly to your computer with ease. Then you can edit, convert, and share your videos with friends and family.
If you are on the fence on this one, go ahead and jump over. There's some video samples online from this camcorder if you want to actually "SEE" the video/sound quality for yourself. That's what helped me make up my mind about purchasing this camcorder. Definitely a great purchase!Great camera until it brokeDatum 2008-09-21 Rang: 2 von 10I was very pleased with this camera in the beginning. Great video quality. The audio was in sync with the video which is something uncommon with inexpensive camcorders. Perfect size to fit in your pocket to carry around with you. Unfortunately this camera stopped working 3 months after the purchase.
