Outstanding Visual UpconvertingDate: 2008-09-21 Rating: 8 out of 10This particular converter provides the absolute best performance over 8 other upconverters tested with our new 720p/1080i and our 1080p/108oi Samsung HD 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio televisions. Must say, almost every DVD disk played from the old DVD collection in the RCA resulted in a crystal clear picture. Yet, some down sides ... operation is slow and menu choices poor ... but a small price to pay for such a quality outstanding picture.
Please note the unit did fail after 9 months and the customer service for warranty fun begins since there is little or no support from RCA since it has been sold. Yet, with patience and lots of follow through, you can send the unit off for repair, replacement or ???? to be determined by a Canadian firm that does the repairs.
Meanwhile, our household is going through withdrawals without the RCA since none of our BlueRay players and upconverters found within them offer a picture anywhere near its quality. So far ... we say no to Sony, Tobisha, LG, and Samsung players ... they just don't compare regardless of what their specs say.
