For those of you using traditional coffee makers, this will greatly improve the quality of your morning cup if you are willing to spend a couple extra minutes. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is that my set was short 1 of the coffee mugs, but mistakes happen.
What this set lacks in electronic timers, bells and whistles, it more than makes up for with quality and charm.
For those of you who are not familiar with the French press process I'll attempt to briefly describe it.
First you pour your (coarse) coffee grounds in the perforated white plastic cup, then drop it to the bottom of the glass container. Pour in hot water (just under boiling) and cover with the lid assembly. Let it brew for 4-5 minutes, then press down the stainless steel mesh filter to push and hold the grounds at the bottom. Pour out the rich coffee containing all of the oils and acids that your traditional paper filters have been robbing you of. Then top with hot frothed milk for a cafe latte or add hot water for traditional American coffee. Then rinse everything and throw it in your dishwasher.
I bought this for dinner parties and weekend breakfasts where I have a little extra time, but I'm finding that I don't mind waking up a few minutes early to have a much better cup.
