I have purchased two of these in the last 2 years and both have failed with internal water leaks. The first failed in less than 5 months and I just figured I had a bad one. The second failed in 7 months and I now know the product is inferior. An internal leak fills the battery compartment with water and shorts out the battery and subsequently the timer quits working. I do not recommend this product.

BewertungenWorked great for 14 days - then it pulled apartDatum 2008-09-01 Rang: 2 von 10Like a number of other customers I, too, was pleased with this product - until it broke. I was moving the hose when it pulled the timer right off the hose bib. Yes, the instructions say be careful and I was.Fills with water, stops workingDatum 2008-08-24 Rang: 2 von 10I bought three Melnor timers last year, and each of them stopped working within a year because the battery compartment filled with water. I then went to get replacements, thinking I must have done something wrong. Melnor has apparently become "Vigoro" and at Home Depot, this is one of the few options that seems decent. I bought it thinking that surely the battery water issue would be resolved. Within 1 month, the timer I installed completely filled with water again in the battery compartment, ruining the unit. What a piece of junk! I also believe it is bogus that they call this a "duo" when it only waters one zone. This means if trying to water 2 zones from the same faucet, you need two of these timers side by side, and they are too big for that. I also had noticed that even when the product was brand new and had new batteries, the screen was very faint and hard to read. I doubt I will buy a product again from Vigoro, Melnor, or whatever they change their name to. I also believe that Home Depot should be ashamed of selling this garbage. Short life spanDatum 2008-08-05 Rang: 2 von 10Set this unit up for a drip system. It operated 10 minutes twice/day for two weeks then failed. It will not shut off. Didn't even outlast the battery. This unit is great in theory. I really like the ability to customize [the multiple watering start times and duration] down to the minute. Sadly, their quality is lacking.Nice in theory, but not in reality.Datum 2008-05-23 Rang: 2 von 10I love the features of this timer. I have a number of timers from other companies and when I saw the features on this one, it fit my needs. I like the idea of 6 cycles per day, individual days and the misting feature is great.
However, this product is not designed well at all. First, the LCD display is not protected and made of cheap plastic. LCD screens are normally thin treated glass, this is not. Everything is pressed together as well.
I have went through 3 of these and will be switching to another brand. All three cracked internally and filled with water within 10 minutes of using them and I do not have high water pressure, well below the 120 PSI rating for this product.
NOTE: Once it cracked on the inside, it would NOT turn off! I would have been using this for my garden and it would have destroyed all my vegetables if I was not home when it kicked on and broke. It is not worth the risk.
Additionally, I work in technology and the LCD concerns me. Even if this product didn't break on me, I do NOT believe the screen would last very long simply due to it being such low quality. I'd give it 1 season before being damaged and needing replaced or simply being destroyed on it's own.
Anyway, great concept but poorly designed. Like I said, 3 of them broke on me.
